ABOUT THE CLUB

Surrounded by dunes, sky and sea, Birubi Point SLSC is a special place. We are a relatively young club, given club status in 1997, and we have a proud history of keeping people safe while they relax and enjoy our spectacular environment. Our prime purpose is to provide a safe aquatic environment on Birubi Beach, by providing highly qualified teams on weekends and public holidays to patrol our beach. We also, as a community responsibility, teach our junior members (Nippers) how to be “surf safe”.

Birubi Point SLSC is one of 13 clubs in the Hunter Branch with the Hunter Branch being one of 11 branches in the state of NSW.

The Birubi Point SLSC club is located at the northern end of Stockton Beach with the closest town being Anna Bay. We are approximately 45min drive from the nearest major town, being Newcastle. Stockton Beach is 32kms long, stretching from Anna Bay in the North to Newcastle in the South.

Anna Bay is one of many coastal towns in the Port Stephens Council area. Tourism is a major industry in Port Stephens, consisting of many accommodation and restaurant options. Many water-related attractions are available with Whale Watching being a major drawcard for domestic and international tourists.

With some parts of Sydney being just over 2 hours’ drive we are seeing day trippers visit our beach more frequently, adding to the high visitation numbers. This combined with domestic and international tourists make Birubi very busy at times.
