Club Awning build commences at the Surf Club

A new awning is being built to provide shade at Birubi SLSC

If you've been down to the Clubhouse you would have seen some work being done to create a much needed shade structure over the existing WHS area of the Club. The footings have been excavated, the reo has been placed, the concrete footings have been poured and temporary fencing has been installed around the site. There was also a member of the Worimi Land Council in attendance onsite when all of the excavation was taking place and raised no issues with excavations.

This has been made possible through the amazing perseverance of Norm Barnes who has been working with the NSW Government through the Department of Sport and Recreation for a grant that allows sporting organisations to fund infrastructure projects.

It has taken a few years of planning, DA and applications for the work to commence and we are incredibly excited that this is underway!

Watch this space, and fingers crossed that the shade will be up by Christmas.
